Review of ‘Promise’–New Album by FLOW
What happens when a cluster of celebrated musicians come together, bringing together their individual brilliance to fuse something unique that blends every aspect of their art to create something unique and different from the usual? Well, the answer is this album–Promise. I am sure you have heard their debut album as a group too–FLOW–a rare experiment that was lyrically beautiful and successful. Like me, if you have been expecting more of such soulful music from this collaboration and looking forward to some new tunes, ‘Promise’ fulfills them.
Album Name: Promise
Artist Name: FLOW (Fiona Joy, Lawrence Blatt, Jeff Oster, Will Ackerman)
Total Time: 44:41
The whole album is very soothing and idle for relaxation and meditation purposes, or if you want to have some quality sound slowly making you feel comfortable while you work on something creative and special. The soft sounds of the instruments make it a perfect pick for your ears.
You will notice that there are not many sharp or shrill sounds and every note seems to be well rounded-off, making it very pleasing and calming for the listener. Whenever the flugelhorn comes, you will like floating in the air like a feather.
While all the songs are beautifully thematic and allow you to discern every instrument with clear sounds, I particularly loved the ending of the ‘Adrift at Sea,’ with fading sounds of the flugelhorn while waves swell and sea-gulls squeak in the background.
Spend perfect five minutes enjoying the ethereal sounds of ‘Nightfall’ as you move along with the tracks. What fluidity and pace…mesmerizing! Definitely, my favorite of the album!
‘Chasing Secrets’ stands out for its jazz style and stand-out percussions that lend it totally different mood. Would definitely make you dance with joy–the subtle and gentle mastery of Jeff Haynes is at play here!
Goes without saying that it was worth the wait after listening to their debut album ‘FLOW.’ New-Age music offers lots of colors, and FLOW, the group, has offered beauty and grace through their new album ‘Promise.’
